FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Frostburg women's lacrosse senior tandem of Morgan Cavey and Abigail McClure finished out their Bobcat careers on Saturday as FSU was eliminated from the CAC Tournament with a 21-4 loss to No. 9 Mary Washington.
This afternoon's matchup is the second of the week between FSU and UMW. On Wednesday, Frostburg endured a 21-11 loss to the nationally-ranked Eagles, while on Saturday, the loss ended the 2019 season for Frostburg with a 4-14 overall record.
Mary Washington opened the game with seven-straight goals before sophomore Stephanie King found classmate Wynnanne Walters for a goal with 17:24 showing.
UMW then rattled off the next six goals before junior Molly Biggers scored on a free position with 3:17 left in the first half. Tess Siburn scored the final tally of the first as the hosts led 15-2 at intermission.
In the second half, Mary Washington outscored Frostburg 6-2 for the win.
Sophomore Summer Cavey scored the first goal of the second half for the Bobcats at 25:30 to narrow the score to 16-3. She added her second goal of the afternoon at 12:16 as the score read 18-4.
The Eagles' Kennedy King scored two of their final three goals to set the final at 21-4.
Mary Washington out shot Frostburg 34-12 on the afternoon and held an 18-9 advantage in draw controls.
Summer Cavey led the Bobcats with two goals and collected a pair of draw controls. Sophomore Lindsay Kohlmann grabbed a team-high four draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Senior goalkeeper Abigail McClure made four saves in 30 minutes of action. Morgan Cavey concludes her Bobcat career with 165 goals, 45 assists and 210 points in 65 games played. She ranks fifth in program history in career goals scored and sixth in career points.
The contest marked Frostburg's fifth all-time appearance in the CAC Tournament and their first since 2017.
