GLENVILLE, W.VA. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team dropped a road contest on Wednesday night to the Glenville State Pioneers by a score of 129-76. The loss drops the Bobcats to 1-9 overall and 1-4 in MEC play, while Glenville State improves to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Senior Amanda Emory got the scoring started for the Bobcats with a layup at the 7:26 mark of the first quarter. However, a strong offensive output had the Pioneers leading 42-15 after the first 10 minutes.
First-year Kaitlyn Rogers had herself a strong second quarter showing. The Boonsboro, Md. native connected on a pair of three-pointers and had eight points in the quarter as Frostburg found themselves trailing at the half.
The second half saw other young Bobcats have success. First-year Ciara Thomas scored 10 of her team-high 12 points in the second half, while sophomore Tatiana Gibson scored all of her career-high 11 points in the final 20 minutes. Sophomore Anhai Allen collected six blocks on the night, the most a Bobcat has had in a game since Tracey Little had seven blocks back in 2004.
The Bobcats were able to bounce back after a slow start from the floor in the first quarter. After shooting 27 percent in the first quarter, Frostburg State shot 50 percent over the final three quarters of the contest.
