RALEIGH, N.C. – Frostburg's first win as a Division II school will have to wait a little longer, as it fell to Saint Augustine's 81-76 at Shaw University.
The Bobcats struck first with a pair of converted free throws by junior Joe Adebayo, but that would be the only lead FSU had all night. Saint Augustine's responded promptly with an 8-0 run, keeping the Bobcats at bey.
Frostburg ended up tying the game late in the half at 32 apiece, but another 8-0 run by the opposition helped put the Falcons ahead 42-36 at the halftime break.
Saint Augustine's built up a double-digit lead that would balloon to as many as 16, but the Bobcats came clawing back, closing the gap to as low as four points with two minutes left. Despite a 40-39 advantage for FSU, the comeback fell short.
Senior Daniel Alexander continued his stellar start to the 2019-20 season with his second double-double in as many games, tallying a game-best 25 points and 12 rebounds. Classmate Terry Kenner chipped in 13 points as well.
Frostburg State hits the road on Wednesday night with a matchup at Mansfield beginning at 7:00 p.m.
