Field Hockey Drops Season Finale

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine scored two first-half goals and finished the afternoon with a 3-1 win over visiting Frostburg State, Sunday.
 
The Bobcats close their 2019 season, their inaugural year at the NCAA Division II level with a 2-18 overall record. The matchup with the Knights served as the second day of the Independents Championship Weekend.
 
Three different players found the cage for the hosts and Cassidy Sweeney scored what proved to be the game-winner just 1:48 into the first quarter.
 
FSU was outshot 34-4 and Bobcat senior Sierra Smizer closed her career with another double-digit save effort. She posted 14 saves, including nine in the opening two quarters. Her first save of the game came 2:16 into the first quarter and the game was her eighth with 10-plus saves this fall.
 
Senior Logan Gladden led the Bobcats with two shots, while juniors Gabby Rachuba and Sam Coffey each had one shot.
