FROSTBURG, Md. – On Saturday afternoon the Frostburg State men's soccer team hosted the Notre Dame (Ohio) Falcons in a 1-0 loss. The Bobcats move to 6-8-1 overall and 5-7-1 in Mountain East play while the Falcons move to 8-3-2 and 8-2-2.
The first half immediately kicked off with a shot from Notre Dame's Julian Castro at 1:29 but was blocked by the Bobcats. Notre Dame's Evans Armah attempted to find the back of the net shortly after Castro but was blocked once again. After a back and forth between the teams with throw ins, free kicks, and goal kicks, first-year Tamino Brown put his laces through the ball but was blocked by the Falcons at 10:20. The Falcons went on to attempt six more shots before the Bobcats responded with two of their own by Brown and senior Alla Tesfu. The first half ended scoreless between the teams.
The second half opened with a goal at 45:56 from the Falcons. Nicholas Felician found the back of the net with a low shot to the left and was assisted by Niklas Bohlin and Lewis Norvock giving Notre Dame the 1-0 lead. Following the Notre Dame goal, the Falcons attempted two more shots. First-year Louie Kerdock took a shot at 62:56 to the low right but was saved by Notre Dame's Daniele De Angelis. Shortly after Kerdock's shot, junior Randy Putnam missed his shot to the right. The Bobcats would finish out the half with six shots and Notre Dame with nine.
Brown led Frostburg in shots as he tallied three for the contest while Tesfu and first-years Addison Keja and Louie Kerdock would all take one shot.
Bobcat goalkeeper Joel Assal saw all 90 minutes of action and faced 17 shots while registering five saves.
Frostburg returns to action on Oct. 30 for a match at Urbana for a 6:30 pm start.
