CHARLESTON, W.Va. - On Friday night, the Bobcats lost to the Charleston Golden Eagles in a three set match. FSU fall to 8-9 overall 1-5 in the Mountain East Conference while CU advance to 8-14 overall 3-3 in MEC play.

Frostburg lost on the road after being defeated by scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-12.

FSU hit .019 against Charleston with 18 kills. The Bobcats also collected three service aces and 40 digs. Sophomore Hailey Altemus had seven kills on the night while first-year Edwyna Lainez earned 15 assists. Senior Cori Smothers recorded 14 digs and one service ace while first-year Raven Pratt had four kills and three blocks.

The Golden Eagles took an 8-4 lead powered by a 6-2 run to start the first set. An 8-2 Charleston run put them in command 16-7 until a 4-1 run by the Bobcats driven by two Altemus kills made the score 17-11. CU closed out the set with a 6-1 run that was capped off by two kills from Jaxin Melby.

Charleston jumped out to a 7-0 lead fueled by three kills from Sydney Burt. The Bobcats battled back later in the set with kills from Altemus, Pratt, and senior Bailey Godlove to drive a 7-2 run making the score 15-14. The Golden Eagles closed out the set with a 4-1 run.

CU started the third set taking the lead 4-1. An 8-1 Golden Eagle run put them ahead 13-4. The scoring gap was closed after a service ace from Smothers and kills from Altemus and Godlove making the score 14-8. Charleston took back control after an 8-2 run putting them ahead 22-10. CU closed out the third set with a service ace from Sydney Burt.
