Bobcats Earn Conference Win Against PSH

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team defeated Penn State Harrisburg, 74-57, on Wednesday night, earning its third conference win of the season.
 
The Bobcats improve to 11-4, 3-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play while PSH falls to 7-9, 1-4 in the CAC.
 
The game started with Frostburg rattling off 12-straight points and scoring 18 of the game's first 20 points, jumping out to a 16-point advantage. The run was led by junior Amanda Emory, who collected six points during the stretch, while senior Megan Kelly and first-year Anhai Allen each had four points.
 
The Lions roared back, going on a 19-1 run of their own that was highlighted with a three-pointer from freshman Kendis Butler with 4:22 remaining in the first half. The Bobcats answered that run with an 11-0 run of their own highlighted by five points from junior Victoria Diggs. Entering the halftime locker room, FSU held a 30-24 lead.
 
Frostburg separated itself to start the third quarter, as it used a 10-3 run to extend their lead to 13 points. The Bobcats held a double-digit lead over the Lions from 2:31 left in the third quarter until the final buzzer rang with Frostburg on top, 74-57 on the scoreboard.
 
Emory scored a career-high 26 points, shooting 11-for-14 from the field and dropping in 4-of-5 free throws, while collecting seven rebounds. Allen also collected a season-high seven points and five assists. Junior Sydney Stotler led the team with nine rebounds and Diggs brought in 17 points for the victorious Bobcats.
 
Lion senior Shanique Mattis was the only member of her team to gain double-digit points, collecting 22 points and bringing in seven rebounds, both team-highs. Overall, the Bobcats held the Lions to a 27.6% scoring percentage from the field.
 
FSU will travel to Salisbury for its next game on Saturday, January 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
