FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg field hockey team fell to Bridgewater, 2-1 in a makeup game that was rescheduled from Sunday.
Junior midfielder Georgia Howard scored both of the Eagles' goals within 30 seconds of each other, the first on a pass from midfielder Courtney Cooke in the 19
th minute, and the second on a pass from forward Meghan Obaugh.
The first half ended with the Eagles holding on to their 2-0 advantage, outshooting the Bobcats, 7-3 in the first 35 minutes of action.
FSU's first-year forward Taylor Hackett scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the second half, as she took a pass from senior defender Cara Morrell on a penalty corner and deposited it into the cage to cut the Bobcat deficit to one goal.
Although the Bobcats played a disciplined last half, allowing only one penalty corner to Bridgewater, they could not score a second goal as the Eagles held on to win, 2-1. Junior goalkeeper Sierra Smizer saved five shots in the losing effort.
The Bobcats fall to 0-6 on the season, while Bridgewater's victory brings their record to 3-2.
Frostburg State's next game will take place this Saturday, as they hit the road to face Roanoke at 1:00 p.m.
