SALISBURY, Md. – The Frostburg State baseball team could not solve Salisbury starter Austin Heenan in a 7-0 defeat in game two of the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Baseball Tournament on Friday.
The loss eliminates fourth-seeded Frostburg from the conference tournament after losing game one to York (Pa.) earlier in the day. Top-seeded and 21
st-ranked Salisbury took advantage of a pair of Frostburg errors, scoring three of its seven runs off of Bobcat miscues.
Sea Gull starter Austin Hennan went the distance, allowing just four hits and no runs with 10 strikeouts. His mound opponent, senior Greg Schneider made the start for Frostburg.
Schneider allowed eight hits and seven runs with two strikeouts in 7.2 innings. Sophomore Mike Livingston collected the final out of the eighth inning in relief of Schneider.
Seniors Colton Sivic, Logan Corrigan, Matt Bougourd and Patrick Bosley collected one hit each for Frostburg.
The Sea Gulls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first before adding two runs in the third and single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Salisbury will conclude day one of the CAC Tournament against York (Pa.) at 4:00 p.m.
