Women’s Basketball Dominates on First Day of Crawley Classic

FROSTBURG, Md. – On Saturday afternoon the Frostburg women's basketball team opened its home slate with the Jim Crawley Classic and a 67-44 win against City College of New York.

The Bobcats move to 2-0 on their season while the Beavers fall to 1-1.

Bobcat junior Victoria Diggs opened the game with a three pointer at 9:24 with an assist by junior Victoria Yoder.

Shortly after, senior Megan Kelly connected on a three pointer with an assist by Diggs. To continue propelling the Bobcats, Yoder managed to steal the ball from the Beavers to then handoff to Diggs for a fast break in the paint to put the Bobcats ahead 8-0.

Kelly started the second quarter with another triple to give the Bobcats a 21-10 cushion. Sophomore Kayla Wilson connected on both of her free throws to increase the lead 23-13.

The first half ended with two good free throws from junior Amanda Emory giving the Bobcats a 32-12 lead.

Diggs and Kelly led the way in the first half for the Bobcats as they each registered 10 points. Not far behind was Emory as she collected seven points.

In the second half of play, the Bobcats kept pushing forward with a constant lead over the Beavers.

Junior Sydney Stotler made her way onto the scene leading the way for the second half with nine points. She made five of six free throws for the half, three of which came in the opening two minutes of the second half.

Wilson was six of eight on free throws for the night collecting six points.

Frostburg dominated three point and free throw percentages at 42.1% and 70.0%.

Senior Megan Kelly led the way for the night with a total of 13 points.

The Bobcats return to action tomorrow Sunday Nov. 18 at 3:00 pm against Mount Aloysius.
