ANNVILLE, Pa. – Four players finished in double figures for the Frostburg women's basketball team as it opened the 2018-19 campaign with a 59-41 come-from-behind victory over Lebanon Valley, Tuesday night.
The Bobcats are 1-0 on the season thanks to a 20-4 run over the final 7:42 of the second quarter.
The host Dutchmen (0-2) connected on back-to-back baskets to open the second frame and grab a 19-7 advantage. From that point on, the Bobcats rallied and led 27-23 at the break.
Senior Megan Kelly started the 20-4 spurt with a three-pointer at 7:42 and she connected on another triple moments later. FSU closed out the half with eight of the game's nine baskets and junior Sydney Stotler hit two layups late to help the visitors to the four-point cushion at intermission.
Frostburg continued to keep its foot on the gas as it outscored LVC 13-6 in the third quarter.
Junior Victoria Diggs knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter for Frostburg, while junior Amanda Emory finished the fourth frame with three layups and two free throws to help extend the final score to 59-41.
The victory is the first season-opening win for Frostburg since the 2014-15 season and gives the Bobcats some early season momentum as it hosts the Jim Crawley Classic this weekend at Bobcat Arena.
