Men’s Basketball Drops DII Cheyney In Season Opener

CHEYNEY, Pa. – The Frostburg State men's basketball team opened the 2018-19 campaign with a close 68-64 win over NCAA Division II Cheyney, Monday night.
 
The Bobcats open the season at 1-0 under first-year head coach Sean Brown after three Bobcats finished in double figures.
 
Senior Edwin Cole led the way with a double-double 23 points and 16 rebounds, including 14 on the defensive glass. He shot 50 percent from the floor and made 7-of-9 free throws.
 
Junior Jordan Dawson was second on the roster for FSU with 20 points, six rebounds and three steals, while junior Daniel Alexander added 14 points.
 
The trio of Cole, Dawson and Alexander scored 57 of the Bobcats' 68 points.
 
Meanwhile, Cheyney finished with three players in double figures and was led in scoring by Jordan Henry with 16. Amir Boney finished with 13.

Frostburg returns to the court on Saturday when it hosts Penn State Altoona at 8:00 pm.
