NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Bobcats traveled to No. 14 Christopher Newport on Saturday for a CAC matchup that ended in a 5-0 loss. Frostburg's record drops to 2-14 overall while Christopher Newport advances to 10-4 overall.
The Captains found their first goal in the first five minutes of the contest. Christopher Newport's Ariana Samuel found the back of the cage off an assist by Courtney Fiest. The Captains second goal came later at 10:42 by Fiest.
At 12:53 Frostburg junior goalkeeper Sierra Smizer saved a penalty stroke taken by the Captain's Christina Slick.
After the penalty stroke, Smizer saw several more shots that resulted in saves.
The third CNU goal came at 26:18 from Captain's Lily Bryngelson assisted by Coutrnie Greene.
Sophomore Kaylyn Gardiner registered her first defensive save of the season at 32:34 off a shot from CNU's Rachael Allhouse.
The fourth CNU goal game at 55:58 as Jackie Kotoriy found the cage. The fifth goal was scored by Courtnie Greene in the last minute of play.
Frostburg goalkeeper Sierra Smizer registered 16 saves after 21 shots on goal. First-year Taylor Hackett also picked up her first defensive save of the season as she turned away a shot in the 64
th minute.
The Bobcats are back in action on Tuesday at Shenandoah University for a 7:00 pm start.
