Vasko Named Frostburg Softball Coach

FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State Director of Athletics Troy A. Dell recently announced that Bill Vasko has been selected as Frostburg's softball coach.
 
Vasko inherits a program that has averaged 24 wins per season over the last eight seasons with eight-consecutive appearances in the CAC Tournament.
 
"I would like to thank Director of Athletics Troy Dell and the entire Frostburg search committee for this incredible opportunity to lead the Frostburg softball program," said Vasko. "I am passionate about developing student-athletes and look forward to building off the foundation that has been created at Frostburg over the past decade. I am excited to get to work and do what it takes to lead the softball program to the next level."
 
He arrives at FSU after serving as an assistant softball coach at NCAA Division I UMass Lowell for the last four seasons, helping the team to 70 victories during his tenure. This past spring, Lowell finished second in the America East Conference regular season and runner-up in the league tournament.
 
Prior to UMass Lowell, Vasko coached at Division I Quinnipiac during the 2014 season and was the head coach at Division II Wheeling Jesuit from 2008-2011.
 
Prior to his time at Wheeling Jesuit, Vasko was the Athletic Director and Co-Head Softball Coach at Buckeye Trail High School in Lore City, Ohio from 2002-2008.  Vasko's other coaching experience includes stints at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio (1999-2002) where he served as the assistant baseball coach and strength & conditioning coordinator.
 
Vasko held the same position at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio (1995-98) where he was also an assistant football coach. He also served as an assistant football coach at Denison University (1999), Otterbein College (1998), Ohio Wesleyan University (1994), and an undergraduate assistant football coach at The Ohio State University (1992-93).
 
Vasko is a native of Cambridge, Ohio and a 1994 graduate of The Ohio State University.
