Yoder & Diggs Hit Doubles Figures In Frostburg Loss

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Frostburg sophomore tandem of Victoria Yoder and Victoria Diggs each scored in double figures in a 63-53 road loss at Mary Washington, Wednesday.
 
Yoder poured in a career-high 12 points for the Bobcats and marks the first time she has led Frostburg in scoring in her two seasons. She finished 5-of-8 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds.
 
Diggs was second on the team with 11 points with two three-pointers, five rebounds and four assists. She has scored 10 or more points in 11 contests this season.
 
The Bobcats settle at 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the CAC with the league loss.
 
Mary Washington (7-7, 6-1 CAC) jumped out to an 18-11 lead after the first quarter of action but Frostburg battled back in the second stanza and closed the gap to one.
 
Diggs connected on a three-pointer at 6:19 that kick started a 13-2 run that took just under four minutes. Sophomore Amanda Emory and first-year Marina Jones each hit two jumpers during the outburst as FSU trailed 25-24 with 2:34 left in the half.
 
The Eagles pushed their lead to 30-24 with the final two baskets of the opening half.
 
Frostburg opened the third quarter by cutting its deficit to one on two occasions before sophomore Sydney Stotler hit a jumper off a pass from Diggs at 6:26 that handed the Bobcats their first lead since early in the game. Thirty seconds later, Diggs found Yoder for layup that boosted FSU's lead to three, 38-35.
 
Mary Washington answered with a quick 8-0 run behind two three-pointers for a five-point cushion, 43-38. The hosts pushed their lead to six inside the final minute and closed the third with a 47-43 advantage.
 
The Eagles outscored Frostburg 16-10 in the fourth stanza and they led by 12 just before the midway point of the quarter. Diggs connected on another three at 5:35 that brought the score to 56-47 and she made the game's final basket with 1:42 left to set the final at 63-53.
 
Stotler and senior Adjowa Pinkrah each finished with eight points, while Emory scored seven.
 
Madison Shifflett led the Eagles with 13 points, while Tory Martin scored 10 and Jordan Pamlanye had nine rebounds.
 
Frostburg returns to action on Saturday at Wesley at 1:00 pm.
