Bobcat Women Play To 1-1 Draw At Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Frostburg junior Haley Turner and Gettysburg sophomore Isabel Klatt each found the net in the second half as the two schools finished Wednesday night's non-conference matchup at a 1-1 draw.

Turney scored in the 69th minute, her first of the season, to give the Bobcats (2-6-1) a 1-0 lead that they would hold until the 84th minute. She connected on a long shot in transition from the right wing.

Gettysburg's Maddie Heaney found Klatt for the game-tying tally with 6:38 left in regulation. Klatt scored on a low shot from the top of the box.

The Bobcats outshot the Bullets 12-10 over the first two periods, however, the hosts attempted all seven shots in the two overtimes.

The Bullets (4-2-1) opened the first overtime session with four-consecutive corner kicks over the first three-and-a-half minutes. The hosts also notched two shots that sailed wide of the net.

In the second extra frame, Bobcat junior keeper Emily Faust saved a shot at 100:25, 106:53 and again with just over three minutes to play to help secure the tie. She made two leaping fingertip saves on the first two shots from Gettysburg.

All three of Faust's saves on the evening came in the overtimes as she finished with 65 minutes of playing time. Freshman Jenny Bullers played the first half and notched one save.

Turney scored for Frostburg on her only attempt of the evening, while sophomore Brooke Shehade took four shots and junior Danielle Ferris had three. All three of Ferris' shots forced Gettysburg keeper Kerry Sammon to make saves, including a header in the 64th minute.

Sammon finished the evening with six saves.

The Bobcats jump back into CAC action this Saturday when they host St. Mary's at 3:00 pm.
