FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior Mukor Harris and sophomore Josh McRobie each notched a goal as the Frostburg State men's soccer team shutout Shenandoah 2-0 Wednesday night at Bobcat Stadium.
The Bobcats (3-5-2) mustered eleven shots on the night and held Shenandoah (2-8) to only one attempt.
The Bobcats first scoring opportunity came in the 11
th minute, when sophomore Matt Morris hit a shot inside 18 yards but was saved by Shenandoah keeper Sam Fischer.
Harris' goal came at 21:18 off a corner kick from senior Rodrigo Valenzuela. Harris was able to get a piece of the ball that then ricocheted off a defender to find the back of the net and give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Frostburg State finished the game with seven corner kicks.
Valenzuela notched a scoring chance at 52:41, but his free kick sailed just high from 25 yards out.
The second goal of the night came at 60:24 when a long ball from freshman Punya Saleekul found McRobie in stride as he outran the Hornet's defense and put the ball past Fischer to take a 2-0 lead.
The Bobcats final scoring chance came from freshman Andrew Lakanu, who hit a chip shot from the right that took a diving save from Fischer to keep it out of the goal.
Frostburg State men's soccer is back in action Saturday as they host St. Mary's (Md.) at 5:00 p.m.
