FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State softball team has captured the second seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament that starts on Thursday and the Bobcats will travel to host and top seed Christopher Newport.
The three-day championships will be hosted by CNU (28-8, 13-1 CAC) starting on Thursday morning with fifth seed Mary Washington (22-18, 7-7 CAC) against fourth seed York (Pa.)(26-12, 8-6 CAC) at 10:00 am.
The second matchup of the day features Frostburg against third seed Salisbury (21-15, 10-4 CAC) at noon. The Bobcats and Sea Gulls split their regular-season matchup as FSU won game one 7-3 and dropped the second contest 1-0.
This spring marks the first time that FSU has entered the tournament as the second seed since joining the conference in 2011. The Bobcats had served as the third seed for six-straight years.
Frostburg enters the tournament with a 23-13 overall record and an 11-3 mark in the league. The Bobcats enter this year's tournament having won nine of their last 12 games.
