FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State field hockey team scored three goals on its way to a 3-1 victory over Wilson College Tuesday night.
The Bobcat's generated a total of 23 shots on the night outshooting Wilson, which only had seven. Junior Molly Pickard led the Bobcats with seven shots.
Frostburg tallied 13 penalty corners, with eight coming in the first half.
Senior Nicole Leighty finished the game with five saves.
The Bobcat's first goal of the night came from senior Ivy Meissner at 5:45. Meissner attempted a shot that was blocked by Wilson's goal keeper Krista Nayadley but found the back of the net off her rebounded shot giving Frostburg a 1-0 lead.
Wilson tied the game 1-1 at 25:18 as Miranda Long received a pass from Kaitlynne Brown and found the back of the goal.
Four minutes later, junior Samantha Schaffer answered as she found the back of the net from the left side on a pass from Pickard who was at the top of the circle giving the Bobcats a 2-1 advantage.
Frostburg maintained a 2-1 lead at intermission.
Junior Cara Morrell scored the game's final goal at 59:57 as Meissner ripped a shot that bounced off Wilson's keeper and Morrell was there to clean it up and give the Bobcats a 3-1 lead and the win.
Frostburg State is back in action Thursday as it hosts York (Pa.) at 6:00 p.m.
