ARLINGTON, Va. – Frostburg State found the net twice in the second half to power past Marymount, 2-0, Saturday night.
Frostburg broke through in the 63
rd minute for the game-winner. Sophomore K.J. Davis hit the top of net for his second goal of the season and a 1-0 lead off a feed from junior Alferid Kemal.
The Bobcats made the scoreboard read 2-0 when senior Mukor Harris collected a blocked shot and found the back of the net for the second time this fall with just under 20 minutes to play.
It was the second 2-0 shutout of the season for Frostburg as it improved its record to 4-9-2 overall and 2-5 in the league. The win also snapped a four-game losing streak for the Bobcats and handed the host Saints (3-12, 1-5) a four-game losing skid of their own.
First-year netminder Juan Bofill needed just two saves for his fourth win of the season and his second shutout.
Bofill made a save on a shot from Levis Lopez in the 13
th minute and he notched his second save in the 52
nd minute of an attempt from Lopez again.
Marymount finished with six shots in the second half as it attempted to get on the scoreboard. Frostburg outshot the hosts over the 90 minutes, 15-10, and the Bobcats finished with nine shots on goal.
Davis along with sophomore Josh McRobie and first-year Andrew Lakanu each led the Bobcats with two shots on goal.
Saint keeper John Valcicak made six saves in the loss.
Frostburg returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Penn State Harrisburg at 7:00 pm.
