VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Frostburg State head softball coach Wes Landrum picked up his 250
th career win with an 11-2 victory over Keuka College Sunday afternoon. The Bobcats dropped a 5-2 decision earlier in the day to Buffalo State.
Landrum entered his 11
th season as head coach of the Bobcats with 247 career wins, and notched his 250
th with wins over Randolph-Macon, Roanoke and Keuka in the opening weeks of the 2016 season.
In the first game, senior Renay Aubel hit a homerun against Buffalo State in the first inning to bring in the Bobcats only two runs of the game.
Sophomore Allison Short allowed five runs and took her first loss of the season.
FSU dominated in game two against Keuka College, holding the Wolfpack to only two runs while scoring 11.
In the first inning, Aubel and junior Emily Zengel scored on a two run single from senior Lauren Capece.
Aubel scored again in the third from an RBI ground out by freshman Ali Caulkins.
Junior Hannah Tavik hit a homerun in the fourth inning to bring in three runs and give the Bobcats a healthy lead over the Wolfpack. FSU scored two more runs in the sixth inning.
FSU rounded out the victory with three more runs in the seventh inning. Zengel hit a two run single, while Tavik also hit a RBI single to give the Bobcats the victory.
Tavik picked up her second win on the mound this weekend, only giving up two runs to Keuka.
Next, the Bobcats will travel to Clermont, Fla. to play a full week of games over spring break, March 13-18. FSU will kick off the competition Sunday, March 13 against Bethel (Minn.) at 11:00 am.
