SALISBURY, Md. – The Frostburg women's basketball team closed out its 2015-16 regular-season schedule on Saturday with a 76-46 loss at Salisbury University.
Freshman Megan Kelly led Frostburg (3-22, 0-18) in scoring for the fourth time this season as she poured in 15 points with three three-pointers and two assists. Junior Kirsten Rayner added 14 points and three steals.
The host Sea Gulls (13-12, 9-9) led from start to finish, but the Bobcats didn't make things easy in the first half.
Kelly opened the second quarter with a three-pointer that trimmed the deficit to 10-8 and moments later freshman Bryce Papp connected on a three that cut the score to 14-13 in favor of Salisbury.
SU made a run late in the second quarter that extended its lead to 12, 29-17, but Papp connected on another three-pointer that cut the Bobcat deficit to 29-20 at the break.
In the third quarter, Salisbury slowly increased its and led by 27 in the third frame and pushed its advantage to a game-high 32 late in the fourth.
Frostburg senior Courtney Young and sophomore Kache Fields led the Bobcats with seven rebounds apiece.
The Sea Gulls were led in scoring by Julia McLaughlin with 18 points and 17 rebounds.
