Bobcats Fall to Mary Washington In CAC Action

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Despite a second half comeback, the Frostburg State women's basketball team could not recover from a slow start and fell to Mary Washington, 86-46, Wednesday evening.
Junior Kristen Rayner led the Bobcat offense with 12 points and also grabbed seven rebounds. Her classmate Kache Fields put up nine points for the Bobcats while senior Courtney Young posted seven rebounds.

Mary Washington (13-3, 7-2 CAC) jumped out to a quick lead, scoring 13 unanswered points in the opening minutes of the game. Fields made back-to-back jump shots in the first quarter to put the Bobcats on the scoreboard.

Rayner sparked the Bobcat offense in the second quarter, shooting two-for-two in free throws and putting up a layup in the eighth minute of the quarter. With two minutes to go, freshman Alanah Roy made a three pointer, however it wasn't enough as the Eagles went into the half with a 49-17 lead.

Young put up three jump shots to cut into the Eagle's lead in the third quarter, but Mary Washington's Kendall Parker made three consecutive three pointers in the final seconds of the quarter to surge the Eagle's ahead.

Rayner and Fields both went perfect two-for-two in free throws in the fourth quarter, however it wasn't enough and Mary Washington walked away with the victory.

Mary Washington's Brianne Comden put up 28 points and grabbed six rebounds while her teammate Sarah Listenbee contributed 11.

The Bobcats will return to the court Saturday, January 30 when they travel to Marymount for a conference match set to start at 2:00 pm.
