MARIETTA, Ohio – Frostburg State kicked off the 2016 portion of its indoor track & field schedule on Saturday with some impressive efforts at the Marietta Open.

Sophomore Kayla Truesdel paved the way with three wins and a spot in the ECAC Indoor Championships in the 200-meter dash. She earned victories in the 55-meter dash (7.34), the 200 (26.28) and the 400 (1:00.75).
 
Truesdel also teamed with junior Amy Virostek, sophomore Destiny Logan and freshman Samantha Gittere for second place in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:21.96.
 
Individually, Virostek captured fifth in the 500-meter dash in 1:34.39, while Logan registered fifth in the 200 at 27.86. Freshman Alexandra Jeffers was sixth in the 500-meter dash in 1:37.93.
 
In the field events, freshman Heather Martin grabbed two top-10 finishes. She took fourth in the pole vault at 2.30 meters and ninth in the triple jump at 9.23 meters.
 
Sophomore Zoe Harris recorded eighth place in the shot put (9.64 meters), while junior Tierra Cooke was 10^th in the weight throw (9.40 meters).
 
Frostburg returns to action next Saturday at West Virginia University at 9:30 am.
