Volleyball Splits On Final Day of PSB Tournament

ERIE, Pa. – The Frostburg State volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the Penn State Behrend Tournament, first falling to Bethany (W. Va.), 3-1, then defeating D'Youville, 3-0, Saturday afternoon.
 
In the first match against Bethany, the Bobcats (3-6) won the first set, 25-21, before the Bison (7-2) rallied to pick up the next three sets, 25-18, 25-20, and 25-21.
 
Sophomore Naya Cheatem had 19 kills while classmate Jessica Bugtong added 12. Sophomore Madelyn Torres finished with 44 assists and garnered All-Tournament Team honors for her efforts.
 
Digs were not available immediately following the match.
 
In the Bobcats' final game of the tournament, FSU downed D'Youville in three-straight sets, 3-0, to earn the victory.
 
Frostburg defeated the Spartans (1-5) 25-22 in the first and third sets and 25-16 in the second set to pick up the victory.
 
Cheatem led the Bobcats with 13 kills while senior Aimee Petrides added nine. Torres posted 30 assists and four service aces. Sophomores Lindsey Scepura (15) and Megan Wentz (10) both finished with double-digit digs in the contest.
 
The Bobcats travel to Washington and Jefferson on Sunday, September 13 for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
