McCoy Hat Trick Carries Frostburg In Season Opener

Frostburg, Md. – Senior Chelsie McCoy posted her second career hat trick and  the Frostburg State women's soccer team opened its 2015 campaign with a 5-0 victory over Saint Vincent, Tuesday evening.

McCoy scored two goals in the opening half and put the Bobcats on the scoreboard in 5th minute. She handed Frostburg its second goal at the 8:52 mark pushing Frostburg to a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Alyssa Malanik was credited with the first assist, while senior Erin Worthman handed out the second.

The Bobcats continued to dominate the first half, when freshman Haley Dalphon made it a 3-0 lead on an unassisted tally at 33:10.

Entering the second half, McCoy finished off her hat trick with her third goal at the 62:49 minute mark off an assist by senior Brooke Longo. The Bobcats capped their scoring for the night from another Dalphon goal, giving her two for the night. The fifth and final goal came off an assist by sophomore Lauren Watts.

Saint Vincent's goalkeeper, Corinne Burk, posted 10 saves for the night, while Frostburg's Paige Gray walked away with the 5-0 victory. Frostburg outshot the Bearcats 29-2, including 16 shots in the first half.

Frostburg returns to action when the Bobcats square off against Alvernia at Johns Hopkins, Saturday, Sept. 5 at 4:00 pm.
