Women’s Lax Cruises Past Southern Virginia

FROSTBURG, Md. – From the opening draw to the final horn, the Frostburg State women's lacrosse team dominated possession of the game and cruised to an 18-4 victory over Southern Virginia, Wednesday afternoon.

Ten different Bobcats found the back of the net, with sophomore Haley Hines leading the charge with a hat trick. Sophomores Taylor Mone and Charlotte Hines each finished with two goals and four assists in the win.

FSU (8-4, 2-2 CAC) buried seven goals in the opening nine minutes to take an early 7-0 lead, but after a Frostburg foul, Southern Virginia's Rainey Whitworth took advantage of a free-position shot to get the Knights (0-11, 0-4 CAC) on the board with 19:03 left to play in the half.

Sophomore Molly Hart had her own free-position goal 6:08 later, but Whitworth again slipped past the Bobcat defense to pick up her second goal with 9:11 to go before halftime.

Frostburg finished the half strong, with Mone having a hand in the final three goals, and the Bobcats led 11-2 at the half.

Southern Virginia's Whitworth earned her hat trick after finding a pass from Bradshaw in the closing 1:36, but Frostburg came away with the decisive 18-4 victory.
