Bobcats Fall To Marymount

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's basketball team dropped its last contest of the season Sunday against Marymount, 64-49.

The senior class had all but 10 points for the Bobcats as guard Ronje James capped her final season with 19 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Jasmine Walker added 11 points and five rebounds while Bria Jones had six points and four steals. Shaniqua Hall chipped in three points and five rebounds.

The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead with jumpers from junior Courtney Young and two from James. Marymount then went on a 13-5 run to go up 14-11 with 11:26 left in the first half and held the Bobcats to just two points the rest of the half.

The Saints' Leah Hurst had seven points during Marymount's 17-0 run before halftime and with 1:34 before the buzzer, Young hit a jumper to quash the Bobcats scoring drought.

Marymount (17-8, 13-5 CAC) held an 18 point advantage, 31-13, heading into the locker room.

The Saints led by as many as 23 with 15:37 to play in the second half, but the Bobcats hit 13-of-14 free throws (92.9%) down the stretch to bring the game back within reach, 51-40, with just under six minutes to play.

Both teams traded free throws with time winding down and the Saints were a perfect 6-of-6 at the foul line to come away with the victory, 64-49.

Kievanna Lacey led the Saints with 15 points and four rebounds. Teammates Samantha Kane and Dominique Dickens added 10 points each while Kiki Laux chipped in seven points and seven rebounds.

The Bobcats end their season with a 6-19 record overall, and finished 3-15 in the CAC.
