FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's swim team earned a split decision on Saturday after defeating Gallaudet and losing to Davis & Elkins. The Frostburg men defeated both Gallaudet and Hampden-Sydney before falling to Davis & Elkins.
Meet ResultsThe women took down the Bison 201-59 before falling to the Senators by only 12 points, 136-124.
The Bobcat men defeated the Bison 164-65 and the Tigers 160-95, before dropping a 148-113 decision to the Senators.
Macey Nitchie kicked of her sophomore year campaign by winning all four of her events this afternoon. She took first in the 200-meter freestyle (2:13.36) to kick off the day, and then followed with first place performances in both the 100-meter freestyle (1:01.59) and the 50-meter freestyle (28.16). She ended the day anchoring the 200-freestlye relay with an impressive split time of 27.75.
Freshman Maddie Weinberger also had an impressive first meet as a Bobcat as she crushed the field in both the 50-meter breaststroke (35.66) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:19.16). She also took second in the 100-meter IM in 1:14.47.
Freshman Emily Turner had a second place finish in the 50-meter backstroke (35.06) while taking third in the 100-meter back (1:14.6). Senior Chrissy Alessandrini scored a second place finish in the 100-meter butterfly (1:27.63) and took third in the 400-meter free (5:40.91).
The Bobcat men had five first place finishes, including three by sophomore Christian March. March was the breaststroke leg of the winning 200-meter medley relay before winning the 50-meter free (24.61). He capped his day by winning the 100-meter IM (1:03.88). March also placed second in the 100-meter free (55.83).
The Bobcat men's 200-meter medley relay of sophomore James Williams, March, freshman Mike Jones and freshman Sidney Horton kicked the meet off with a first place finish and a time of 1:56.20.
Horton had three first place finishes for the afternoon. He placed first in both the 50-meter breaststroke (31.90) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:13.28) and also was the freestyle leg of the winning 200-meter medley relay.
The Bobcat swim teams will travel to Hood College Saturday, October 24 for a quad-meet between Hood, Goucher and Stevenson starting at 1:00 pm.
