FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg women's basketball team fell to Mary Washington Wednesday night at Bobcat Arena, 88-44.
The Eagles got out to an early 10-2 lead after an 8-0 run that saw Caitlin Ciniero finish two layups, but the Bobcats battled back to come within two with 12:41 remaining in the first half.
Mary Washington (14-4, 10-1 CAC) then sprung ahead 25-13, but an Eagle foul on a three-pointer gave senior Ronje James three free throws to bring the game to a 25-16 mark with 7:21 left before the intermission.
Following a 9-2 Eagle run, senior Shantia White clipped the Eagles with two consecutive threes but Kendall Parker slipped in a layup with two seconds left to give the Eagles a 47-29 lead at the half.
Mary Washington ran away with a 23-2 run in the dwindling eight minutes to put the game out of reach for the Bobcats (1-15, 0-11 CAC).
James had a team-high 17 points for the Bobcats, with 10 coming from the free throw line. Junior Bria Jones chipped in eight while senior Jasmine Walker and White added six.
Parker finished with 22 points for the Eagles and Ciniero had 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Bobcats play host to Wesley Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
