Frostburg Takes Down Brooklyn 6-0

NEWARK, N.J. – Senior Stephanie Fazenbaker scored three goals to help lead Frostburg State to a 6-0 shutout of Brooklyn College on the second day of the Scarlet Raider Soccer Classic, Sunday.

Box Score

In all, four different players scored for FSU as it posted its second shutout of the season and improved its record to 3-0-1.

Just 2:18 into the game, Fazenbaker fired a shot just inside the near post past Brooklyn keeper Rebecca Harmata for a quick lead. Moments later, freshman Jaci Buteau made the score 2-0 with an unassisted far post shot for her first collegiate goal.

Freshman Katie Broadhurst capped the first half scoring with her first collegiate goal after outrunning a defender and slipping a shot inside the far post from the left side of the field.

Fazenbaker opened the second half much like she did the first as she connected on her second goal just 2:58 into play off a pass from junior Brooke Longo. Fazenbaker assisted freshman Kourtney McClain for the game's fifth goal in the 54th minute and she completed her hat trick at 72:06 when she connected on a loose ball on the right side of the 18-yard box.

The Bobcats overpowered the Bulldogs, with a 31-3 advantage in shots. Senior keeper Katie Smith played 59 minutes and earned the win, while junior Paige Gray stopped two shots in 31 minutes of action.

Frostburg returns to the field on Wednesday when it hosts Gettysburg at 7:00 pm.
