WASHINGTON, Pa. – Five different players scored for the Frostburg State women's soccer team as it rolled to a 5-1 win over Washington & Jefferson, Wednesday.
Frostburg (2-0) scored five goals on just 20 shots and cruised to a 3-0 lead at halftime. Senior Stephanie Fazenbaker put the Bobcats on the board in the 13
th minute when she connected on a loose ball in front of W&J keeper Morgan Kinyon. Freshman Alyssa Malanik (38:01) and sophomore Jessi Martz (41:04) followed with two late first-half goals for a 3-0 cushion at the break.
Junior Brooke Longo tacked on the fourth goal in the 54
th minute when she scored from 16 yards out in the top right corner of the goal. Freshman Casey Felker capped the FSU scoring with a goal in the 82
nd minute.
Molly Peddicord found Mariah Lockard for the lone Washington & Jefferson goal with just 18 seconds left in regulation to avoid the shutout.
Fazenbaker and Malanik finished the game with one goal and one assist to lead the Bobcats in scoring. Senior Katie Smith played just 60 minutes in net and made two saves for the win.
Kinyon finished with seven saves for the Presidents (0-1).
The Bobcats return to action this Saturday at Rutgers-Newark at 4:00 pm.
