LATROBE, Pa. – Frostburg State dropped a pair of close matches on the first day of the Saint Vincent Tournament, Friday. The Bobcats lost to Muskingum in their opener, 3-1, and fell to Franciscan, 3-0, later in the day.
In its loss to Muskingum, Frostburg jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead behind a 25-15 win in game one. Muskingum rebounded to win the next three sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-14 to close out the match.
Junior Aimee Petrides and freshman Naya Cheatem led FSU with nine kills each, while freshman Amanda Snowden hit .235 with six kills. Freshman Madelyn Torres kicked off her collegiate career in stellar fashion with a double-double behind 29 assists and 13 digs. Freshman Lindsey Scepura posted a team-high 21 digs.
The Bobcats dropped their second match to the Barons, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-14.
Senior Morgan Hoover led the team with eight kills, while Petrides registered six kills and nine digs. Torres again led the way with 16 assists, while Scepura had 11 digs.
FSU plays host Saint Vincent tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.
