FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State University softball team smacked four home runs and totaled 17 runs in a sweep of York (Pa.) in a CAC doubleheader, Saturday.

Frostburg set the tone early in the opener with a four-run first inning. Sophomore Renay Aubel singled home a run and sophomore Lauren Capece doubled home another for a quick 2-0 lead. Freshman Emily Zengel capped the frame with a two-run home run to left field.
Junior Maddie White scored on a fielding error by York (12-20, 4-8) in the fifth inning and freshman Hannah Tavik smacked a solo home run down the left field line to cap the scoring.
In the circle, Tavik pitched all 7.0 innings and struckout five Spartans. She allowed just one earned run, a solo home run in the fifth.
In the second game, the two teams combined for 18 runs and 28 hits, but the Bobcats captured the win behind a seven-run second inning.
Senior Caitlin Lovend homered in her first two plate appearances of the second game, including a three-run blast that started the second-inning outburst. Freshman Megan Tracey singled home the final two runs of the inning.
In the fourth, Tracey and sophomore Taylor Blevins each plated runs, while in the sixth, Tavik scored home the final run with a single down the right field line.
Lovend finished 2-for-3 with four RBI, three runs, two walks and two home runs, while Tracey was 2-for-2 with three RBI, a run scored and a walk.
Sophomore Nicole Bradford earned the win after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing just three earned runs.
Frostburg State hosts No. 1 ranked Salisbury tomorrow for a doubleheader at 1:00 pm.
