CLERMONT, Fla. – The Frostburg State softball team suffered a pair of losses to Fontbonne and North Central, Thursday, on the final day of its spring break trip.

The Bobcats fell to 5-4 overall on the season after suffering a 3-2 loss to Fontbonne and a 6-0 defeat to North Central.

Freshman Hannah Tavik finished the day with four hits and an RBI. However, in the circle she struckout three and allowed three earned runs in the narrow loss to Fontbonne.

After surrendering two runs in the first inning to the Griffins, the Bobcats rallied with single runs in both the fourth and fifth frames. Sophomore Lauren Capece drew a bases loaded walk in the fourth that scored senior Caitlin Lovend, while in the fifth Tavik singled home junior Savannah Hose that tied the contest at 2-2.

Fontbonne's Cassi Glixman hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth to earn the win.

In the loss to North Central, Frostburg registered just four hits, all in separate innings. Meanwhile, NCC scored a pair of runs in both the first and sixth innings and solo runs in the second and third frames. Kiersten Tinkoff drove in three runs for the Cardinals.

Frostburg State returns to action on Wednesday, March 26 when it hosts Dickinson at 3:00 pm.
