FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A second-half scoring drought proved to be too much for the Frostburg State women's basketball team to overcome as it dropped a 66-30 loss at Mary Washington, Wednesday night.
The Bobcats (1-4, 0-1 Capital Athletic Conference) were back-and-forth with the Eagles (3-2, 1-0 CAC) for much of the first half, but with 3:22 remaining before the intermission, Mary Washington broke out on a 15-0 run that extended into the second half. Senior guard Ronje James knocked down a jump shot at 6:48 to tie the game at 12 prior to UMW's run.
James led the Bobcats with 11 points and four rebounds, including the game-tying shot with 6:48 left in the first half. Senior forward Shaniqua Hall chipped in five points and six rebounds.
The Eagles' Claire Haeuple led with a game-high 12 points and teammate Brianne Comdon added 11.
The Frostburg State women's basketball team is back in action Saturday when it takes on Christopher Newport at Bobcat Arena in the first game of a doubleheader, starting at 1:00 p.m.
