FROSTBURG, Md. – The NCAA announced earlier this afternoon that the Frostburg State University women's soccer team will be heading to the Johns Hopkins Regional of the 2014 NCAA Division III Soccer Tournament.
The Bobcats will face No. 23-ranked SUNY Geneseo in the first round on either Friday or Saturday. A final date and time will be made available later.
The Bobcats carry a 13-4-5 overall record into the matchup, while the Knights broke into the top-25 coaches poll last week and boast a 16-2-2 mark. The two schools have met on just one previous occasion, a match Geneseo won 1-0 in 1999.
FSU earned its spot in this year's regional after defeating Mary Washington this past Saturday in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, 2-0. Geneseo clinched its berth in the NCAA Regional after slipping past Cortland, 1-0, in the SUNYAC Tournament title game on Saturday as well.
This year's NCAA Tournament appearance will be the eighth in the last 14 years for the Bobcats and second in three seasons.
