YORK, Pa. – Frostburg State rallied with two second-half goals, but couldn't hold on to the momentum as York (Pa.) scored a goal just over two minutes into overtime to earn a 3-2 win over FSU, Wednesday afternoon.
The Spartans (12-6, 3-3) scored one goal in each half to grab a 2-0 lead. The first score came in the fourth minute from Ali Posey and the second tally hit the back of the net in the 46-minute off a shot from Katie Petrillo.
The Bobcats rallied to send the contest to extra time with a pair of goals over the final 13 minutes of regulation. Junior Ashley Johnson scored off a penalty corner at 57:07 and senior Courtney Abell tapped home a rebound near the left post at 66:49 to knot the contest at 2-2.
In overtime, York was handed a penalty stroke at 72:04 that Sydney LaMarsh converted to hand the hosts a 3-2 win.
The contest marks the fifth overtime game this season for Frostburg, that finished with a 2-3 mark in extra sessions.
Sophomore Jacqueline Gover finished with nine saves, six in the first half. York, who earned the fifth seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament with the win, received four saves from starting keeper Jessica Everett.
Frostburg caps the 2014 season with a 6-12 overall record.
