FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior Aaron Bellamy hit a big three-pointer and junior Tyler Campbell made a pair of tough layups in the closing minutes to help the Frostburg State men's basketball team to a 77-67 win over Southern Virginia, Wednesday night.

The Bobcats (1-13) picked up their first win of the season behind arguably their most complete game. FSU finished with four starters in double figures, shot a season-high 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the floor, totaled a season-best 77 points and outrebounded the Knights, 50-41.
And yet, Frostburg had a tough time putting away a feisty Southern Virginia team looking for their fourth win.
The lead changed hands nine times and the score was tied on four occasions, but the Bobcats emerged from a one-point halftime deficit to lead by 10, 65-55 with 6:40 to play.
Frostburg collected an 11-1 scoring spurt over the first few minutes of the second half to lead by eight, 54-46. The hosts later put together a 9-1 run to increase their lead to 10 with 6:40 showing on the second half clock.
The Knights (3-7) had one final push and brought their deficit to one, 68-67, with just 2:23 to play.
Campbell and Bellamy answered for the Bobcats as the duo accounted for seven-straight points. Campbell hit a layup at 2:00, Bellamy dropped a deep three-pointer with 1:06 left and Campbell hit second layup with 44 seconds remaining as Frostburg led 75-67. Two late free throws sealed the 10-point victory.
Despite fouling out with over five minutes to play in the game, junior James Peters scored a game-high 26 points. He had 20 points in the first behind four three-pointers. Junior Jabari Kamau posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
However, it was Campbell and Bellamy that sparked the Bobcats down the stretch. Campbell totaled 10 points and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds, while Bellamy had 12 points and dished out a season-high nine assists.
Preston Eaton led Southern Virginia with 21 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Chris Baker scored 19 points, while Kenrick Hart added 13.
Frostburg returns to action this Saturday when it travels to Salisbury at 3:00 pm.
