Bobcats Fall At Home To Marymount

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's basketball team fell behind early and never recovered in a 79-60 CAC home loss to Marymount, Saturday.

The Saints (10-3, 3-2) jumped out to a 16-2 lead six minutes into action en route to their fourth win in their last five games. Marymount shot 61.5 percent from the floor in the opening half and held the Bobcats (0-12, 0-6) to just 29.0 percent shooting.

MU led by as many as 20 points in the first half and led 44-27 at intermission.

The Bobcats fared better in the second half and cut the deficit to 11 points on numerous occasions. However, FSU never broke into single digits and Marymount increased its lead to 21 points, 79-58, with just 1:10 to play.

Junior Jabari Kamau turned in a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. He led three starters in double figures as senior Aaron Bellamy finished with 14 and junior James Peters contributed 11.

The Saints made just seven second-half baskets, but they took advantage of 29 FSU fouls by finishing 30-of-37 at the foul line. JC Hoelich led the team in scoring with 15 points, followed by Jesse Konadu with 13.

Frostburg returns to action on Monday when it hosts Shenandoah at 7:00 pm.
