Freshman starting pitcher Mary Anne Moore tossed yet another game-one gem. After nearly pitching a perfect game on Sunday against W&J, Moore scattered three hits and allowed just one unearned run, while striking out four. She improved her record to 14-3.

The Bobcats (25-8) sandwiched two runs in both the second and seventh innings around a solo run in the fourth. FSU also scored four runs courtesy of three Mustang errors.

Senior Shari Beavers scored on an infield error in the second inning and freshman Lauren Capece drove home classmate Taylor Blevins for the only runs FSU would need for the win.

Beavers singled home senior Taylor Vandegrift in the third, while senior Caitlin Lovend singled home Vandegrift in the seventh. Senior Kerri O’Malley scored the first run of the seventh on the third and final error by the Stevenson infield.

In the second contest, Stevenson (14-16) scored all three runs in the bottom of the second frame. Jessica Morelli smacked a three-run homer to left center field.

The Bobcats plated a single run in the top of the third as Vandegrift doubled home Capece as they cut the deficit to 3-1. Frostburg stranded two runners in the seventh inning, including one at third base, but never really got its high powered offense going.

Freshman Nicole Bradford allowed three earned runs on nine hits, while suffering her second-consecutive loss.

Vandegrift finished the afternoon with three hits, two runs, one RBI and a double.

Frostburg returns to action on Thursday with a road doubleheader at Pitt-Greensburg at 3:00 pm.
