YORK, Pa. – The Frostburg State men’s basketball team made 12 three-pointers and held off a hard charging York (Pa.) squad for a 64-60 victory in the regular-season finale for both squads, Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats (10-15, 4-8) were red hot in the first half, draining three-pointers from all over the court. FSU made 11 baskets in the opening half and nine of them were from beyond the arc. Senior Christian Jackson hit a three-pointer with 6:04 left until intermission to give the Bobcats a 13-point cushion, 29-16, their largest of the frame.
Frostburg State shot 52.4 percent from the field (11-of-21) in the opening half, including 60.0 percent (9-of-15), from three-point range. FSU led 37-29 at the half.
York rebounded in the second half and grabbed a one-point advantage, 44-43, with 13:31 to play. The Spartans (7-18, 2-10) pushed their lead to 46-43, but the Bobcats rebounded behind a 15-2 run that gave them a 58-48 lead at 6:43. FSU made three 3-point shots during the scoring outburst.
The hosts quickly answered with an 8-0 run of their own to narrow the deficit to just two, 58-56, with 2:18 showing on the clock.
Sophomore Shawn Henson halted York’s run with a layup at 1:49 to extend FSU’s lead to four, 60-56.
Inside the final minute, Jackson hit a jumper (00:52) and later two free throws (00:29) to give the Bobcats a pair of six-point leads, essentially sealing the win.
Jackson finished with a game-high 30 points. He finished 9-of-13 (69.2%), with four three-pointers, eight free throws and seven rebounds. He was the only Bobcat in double figures. Freshman Royce Hunsberger was second in scoring with nine points on 3-of-5 three-point attempts.
York had a pair of players in double figures. Julian Watson scored 21, while Todd Maciejewski posted 15 points and 12 rebounds.
With the win, FSU has locked up the fifth seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament that starts on Tuesday night. The Bobcats will travel to fourth seeded Mary Washington at 7:00 pm. A full tournament preview will be available tomorrow afternoon.
