ARLINGTON, Va. - The Frostburg State volleyball team opened Capital Athletic Conference action with a 3-1 defeat to Marymount, Wednesday. In the league opener for both schools, FSU battled to a 1-1 tie through two sets before Marymount surged to the victory by winning games three and four.

Frostburg fell in four sets (10-25, 25-17, 12-25, 22-25) during their battle against the Saints. With the setback, the Bobcats slip to 3-17, 0-1 in the CAC while Marymount possess a 12-7 overall record and begin CAC action with a victory.
After the hosts took the first set 25-10, the Bobcats fought back in the second. The Bobcats found themselves grasping a 10-8 advantage and possessed the momentum in the second set by stringing together five-straight kills.
Senior April Wolfe accounted for three kills while sophomores Aimee Petrides and Caitlyn Collins both donated one. The Saints couldn't recover as the Bobcats knotted the match at 1-1.
Marymount quickly rebounded grabbing a commanding a 25-12 win in the third set.
The fourth set went down to the wire, as neither team could grab an advantage as they remained tied at 20-20. In the end, the Saints Morgan McAlpin accounted for three individual kills as the hosts finalized the last set at 25-22.
Petrides paced the Bobcats with 11 kills and six digs. Brianna Teets contributed three blocks while Wolfe tallied 10 digs and seven kills. Collins handed out 22 assists and smacked five kills and a service ace.
The Bobcats return home after nine consecutive away games for their own tri-tournament. FSU hosts Saint Vincent at 1:00 pm and Shenandoah at 5:00 pm.
