FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Frostburg State University women's soccer team managed to earn a 1-1 tie against Mary Washington in its first CAC competition of the season on Saturday afternoon.

Frostburg attempted 18 shots from 11 different players to try and gain an edge over Mary Washington. The Bobcats managed to outshoot the Eagles 18-13 with a slight advantage of shots on goal (9-7).
The Bobcats came close to getting the first goal of the game at 39:49 with a shot from junior midfielder Courtney Mack, which barely missed and hit the post.
It wasn't until the 66th minute of play when freshman midfielder Erin Worthman found her first goal of her career and the only score of the day for Frostburg. Worthman dribbled up the left side and blasted a shot past goalie, Charlotte Owens, to put the Bobcats up 1-0.
The Eagles answered back from freshman forward Jessica Bednarcik who found an opening through a scramble in front of the goal to put it past Frostburg goalkeeper Katie Smith at 78:22.
Mary Washington came close to grabbing the win in the second overtime with three minutes left to play. Freshman Lizzie West shot a header that nearly ended the game but the Bobcats were saved when it hit off the post.
Smith earned six saves with two coming from both of the overtimes to earn the tie.
The Bobcats return to action when they host Eastern Mennonite on Monday, September 17 at 7:00 pm.
