SALISBURY, Md. – Senior Jordan Wright went 2-for-3 in each game as the Frostburg State softball team split its games on the second day of the Salisbury Invitational on Saturday. Frostburg defeated Baruch, 10-1, in six innings and lost to Susquehanna, 10-3.
In the win over Baruch, Wright’s two hits were a double and a homer as she accounted for three RBIs. She also earned the victory, scattering six hits over six innings and allowing just one run.
The Bobcats (3-5) jumped ahead early, scoring five runs in the first. Sophomore Caitlin Lovend delivered the big blast with a three-run home run. That’s her sixth of the season. Juniors Megan Butzner and Kerri O’Malley each added RBI singles in that inning.
O’Malley finished 3-for-3 for the game, while junior Taylor Vandegrift was 2-for-4 and Lovend went 3-for-4.
In the loss to Susquehanna, Lovend had two more hits including a two-run single in the second. Butzner also had two hits and an RBI.
Frostburg opens Capital Athletic Conference action tomorrow afternoon at Wesley at noon.
