SALISBURY, Md. – After holding a 1-0 lead at halftime, the Frostburg State University women’s soccer team surrendered two second half goals and suffered a 2-1 setback to Salisbury, Saturday.

The loss, the first in Capital Athletic Conference play this season, drops the Bobcats to 8-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the league. Salisbury improves to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference with its fifth-straight win.
Frostburg senior Dorie Gedridge struck first when she popped a shot over SU keeper Michelle Conrad from 18 yards out for the 1-0 lead.
The second half had considerably more action as the teams combined for 17 shots after totaling just six in the opening stanza. The Sea Gulls were responsible for 12 of 17 shots and they took advantage of the opportunities.
At 67:03, Victoria Luc evened the match at one goal apiece. She ripped a shot from the left side of the field into the bottom right corner of the net.
Just under six minutes remaining in the game, Salisbury’s Morgan Brasch scored the game winner. Logan O’Meara took a corner kick that found Brasch who knocked a shot in the left side of the net for the 2-1 lead.
FSU had one final chance in the closing minutes but a freshman Brooke Longo shot was saved by Conrad.
Salisbury finished with a 15-8 lead in shots and a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Bobcat keeper Katie Smith made seven saves, tying her season high for the third time this season. All seven saves came in the second half of play.
FSU is back in action this Wednesday when it hosts non-conference opponent McDaniel at 6:00 pm.
