Men's Cross Country Earns 5th at CAC Championship

FROSTBURG, Md.  – Senior Gavin Caupp and junior Patrick Mead finished in 14th and 15th place to help host Frostburg State grab a fifth place finish at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.

Caupp was the top finisher for the men’s team with a time of 28:33.45 with Mead finishing just three seconds behind him at 28:36.54. With those finishes, Caupp and Mead earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.
 
During their first appearance in the CAC Championships, freshmen Josh Biser crossed the line at 31.54.23 to earn 59th place and behind him classmates Jeremy Brown (32:17.81) and Daniel Repchenko (32:19.54) finished one after the other earning 62nd and 63rd place.
 
Sophomore Jon Stewart came in 66th with a time of 32:24.47 before freshman Ryan Hipps (33:07.34), Adam Jenkins (33:56.54), Gregory Horning (34:17.95) and JT Bowling (35:39.29) rounded out the runners for FSU.  
 
As a team, Frostburg finished fifth overall with 129 points. York (Pa.) took home the conference title with 32 points after junior Tim Hartung finished first with a time of 26:52.07. Mary Washington (46 points) and Salisbury (66 points) finished second and third, followed by St. Mary’s (Md.) (110 points). Marymount and Wesley grabbed sixth and seventh place with 181 points and 207 points respectively.
 
The Bobcats return to action during the NCAA III Mideast Regional in Newville, Pa. on November 10, 2012. A preview will be made available before the meet.
