Frostburg Drops Two During Homecoming Tri-Match

FROSTBURG, Md. - On Frostburg's Homecoming weekend, the volleyball team dropped two matches to Salisbury and Carnegie Mellon during an FSU tri-match on Saturday.

Salisbury, the current leader in the CAC, continued their undefeated streak against conference opponents (5-0) by earning 25-14, 25-16 and 25-14 wins over the Bobcats.

The Sea Gulls hit .315 with 11 blocks in the win. Ashlyn Tapley notched a match-high 14 kills and hit .414.

Offensively, the Bobcats were led by sophomores Maddie White, who posted six kills and nine digs, and Andrea Armstrong with five kills and three digs. Senior Chelsea McCloskey handed out 14 assists and donated four digs while freshman Rachel Ober racked two service aces in the loss against 18th ranked Salisbury.

During the second match of the day, Carnegie Mellon pushed its record to 13-15 by defeating the Bobcats with set scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-15.

Again it was White who led FSU with nine kills and a team-high 15 digs. Armstrong and freshman Aimee Petrides both contributed five kills while Armstrong donated 11 digs. McClosky handed out 22 assists while tallying 11 digs. Sophomore Morgan Hoover also chipped in with six kills.

The Bobcats return to action when they honor McCloskey during senior night in their final home match of the regular season against conference opponent St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday, October 23 at 5:00 pm.
