Women's Soccer Rolls In CAC Finale

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Frostburg State University women’s soccer team capped its Capital Athletic Conference regular season with an explanation point, Friday night.

Frostburg scored three goals in the first half and four more in the second on its way to a commanding 7-1 victory over Marymount.

FSU is peaking at the right time as it improves to 12-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the league. The Bobcats have won four-straight games and have outscored their opponents 16-2 during that stretch. The win vaults FSU into second place in the CAC standings and hands it a first round bye in the upcoming CAC Tournament.

Six different players scored for the Bobcats as they rolled to the win. Junior Chelsea Paskowski scored off an assist from junior Courtney Mack at 7:55 to set the tone for Frostburg.

Sophomore Stephanie Fazenbaker handed out the first of three-consecutive assists at 14:47. She found freshman Brooke Longo for the game’s second goal and then passed the ball to Mack for a 3-0 lead at 26:11.

Fazenbaker found junior Adria Graham just 14 seconds into the second half for a 4-0 lead. Senior Dorie Gedridge scored at 52:00 and Graham later returned the favor by assisting a Fazenbaker goal at 55:32 for a 6-0 cushion.

Freshman Erin Worthman finished off the Frostburg scoring with the team’s seventh goal at 62:34.

The host Saints (6-7, 0-6 CAC) scored at 74:44 when Danni Bankins found the net to avoid the shutout.

Bobcat sophomore keeper Katie Smith and freshman Paige Gray each made one save in the victory. Victoria Wyand suffered the loss after surrendering six goals and stopping seven shots in  nearly 62 minutes of action.

Frostburg returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Penn State Altoona for a non-conference tilt at 6:00 pm.
