FROSTBURG, Md.- Sophomore Chelsea Paskowski’s second half goal provided the Frostburg State University women’s soccer team all the scoring they would need in a 1-0 shutout victory over Capital Athletic Conference foe Mary Washington.
Box Score
Just minutes into the conference opener for both schools, Mary Washington (4-1-1, 0-1) appeared to take an early lead but Excy Herrera’s header was waived off by the officiating crew. Mary Washington found it difficult to crack a stingy Bobcat defense and would register just one shot in the first half.
The game would remain scoreless until the 64th minute. Junior Liz Seligman took advantage of the Bobcats first corner kick of the afternoon, when she made a beautiful pass that was headed by Erin Proctor. Proctor’s header went to straight to Paskowski for the game’s only goal.
The Bobcat defense held Mary Washington to just seven shots on the day, and goalie Michelle Buckmaster made two saves to earn the shutout victory.
Frostburg (6-1, 1-0) returns to action on Thursday, September 22 at Shenandoah at 7:00 p.m.
